This book is a useful look at the fundamentals of building good, solid guitar technique. It's got loads of example exercises and tips as well as how to practice everything. I'd say it's aimed at the type of guitarist who is really looking to go beyond the "just playing some chords stage" and really getting into soloing and technique. This is a great place to start for anyone looking to really improve and bodes well for Book 2. Bring it on!

There is a fantastic insight into the psychological pathways we as guitarists find ourselves at one stage or another.
A must-have, enjoyable book, with personal touches and guidance which will elevate any part of your core playing techniques you feel are lacking.

A really helpful book written in a very accessible way. Much more than just a series of exercises this is a book you can happily read outside the practice room, for instance on the train. It gives valuable first hand experience of how Anthony developed his own technique through attending the Guitar Institute and keeps the reader engaged. It is my go to book for everything from warm up exercises, technique and developing my knowledge of the fretboard.

How I wish I had these books 10 years ago. The only thing I’m struggling with I trying not to spend all my time playing. I would consider my self a good intermediate guitarist and am now playing a lot of Slash and guns n roses and for that you need technique. This book will give you that technique....if you practice. A lot of the stuff I know and can do but pushing yourself for 5 minutes at a time on the metronome at pace. There are are some excellent examples in this book backed up with audio and video. There are words but good technique also needs good theory behind it. I think the is nicely a balanced book.anyone who completes this one, let alone 2 or 3 will become some guitarist.....it’s definitely working for me!

This is an excellent book and if you are serious about improving techniques then this is the book for you. Some comments have said that there is a lot of writing here and that is true, I also think its a bonus, it explains things. I have several guitar books collecting dust with thousands of exercises but this one actually explains things and gives your pretty good exercises to use.. you don't need a thousand, just a few good ones! This book is easy to follow and is good for an advanced beginner to intermediate looking to improve skills. This book and a metronome is all you need for practice day and I have already seen improvement in my day to day planning. Looking forward to buying book 2.

Delighted with this book! There are some fantastic exercises that will help you develop your playing immensely. It is also an incredibly informative book which guides you through these exercises.
I have struggled to replicate particular solos down the years and have been frustrated by this. This book has helped me realise the importance of proper technique and through practicing these exercises, I am now able to more effectively tackle these solos. It is a very well written book and the tablature is much clearer than other books I have used in the past!

As a guitar teacher Anthony George doesn't muck about! His superb book immerses you into the maelstrom of world-class guitar playing right from the start. He combines online audio and video with excellent real world examples which take you from the basics of the techniques required to strum, vamp, hammer-on, pull off, tap and control your electric guitar, moving into scales, brilliant warmup and technique primers and more complicated theory to follow. In learning the examples you are encouraged to think for yourself and explore other variations of the same example. If you are looking to radically improve your guitar playing then look no further - this book is for you! Throughly recommended!

This book is fantastic, definitely a must have for any guitarist. Extremely well written Anthony has really hit the nail on the head with this book. It's fair to say i wish i had this book years ago! I have collected many instructional books over the years, and none have come close to the depth of this book.
